Trailer Fabrication Shop

In late summer 2016, CMB Erectors Inc. partnered with Mobile Kitchens Canada in Kingston, Ontario, to expand their trailer fabrication shop. The 4,000 sq. ft. addition provided much-needed space and functionality, overcoming several structural hurdles with clever, on-the-spot solutions.

The new section featured a single-slope roof and a 6-foot material storage overhang, demanding precise alignment with the existing building’s slope. A key challenge was the intersection of the overhang beams with the original wall, which posed potential waterproofing issues. CMB tackled this by fabricating custom beam caps, effectively sealing the wall penetrations and preventing future water leaks.

The expansion also included a 12’ x 14’ overhead door, custom wall-to-roof transitions, and new openings for overhead and man doors in the original building’s newly enclosed gable wall. Inside, a full-height “bright white” liner package was installed to maximise light reflection, improving visibility for the fabrication crews.

With Robertson Buildings supplying the steel and Mobile Kitchens Canada overseeing the project, this build stands as a testament to the collaborative problem-solving and quality execution by CMB Erectors.
