Mobile Kitchens Canada needed to facilitate the erection of their trailer fabrication shop expansion in Kingston, Ontario.

This Building was designed to expand one side of their current trailer fabrication shop. The slopes were designed to match the existing building and to extend the shop towards the back of their storage yard.

Upon commencing the erecting of the structural steel, it was noticed by CMB foremen that the slopes were in fact very different and would not match as prescribed in the scope and initial plans.

Utilising the extra material provided with every Pre Eng Metal Building package and some careful planning, CMB Erectors staff were able to create a very creative wall to roof transition. Ensuring a watertight seal and the required level of movement for the opposing buildings, CMB Erectors completed this all while not disturbing the construction schedule or the budget of the client.

The roof of this building featured a 6’ structural overhang used for dry cold storage by the client. The dry, cold storage helped with storage of bulk raw materials used to fabricate custom disaster relief trailers as well as mobile cooking trailers for events.

This overhang presented some challenges to CMB as the structural steel supporting the overhang protruded through the exterior cladding creating a void for air and water.

CMB Erectors fabricated custom beam caps to close and seal this void permanently solving the wall penetration issue this presented. The construction of this building included creating overhead door and man door openings in the newly enclosed gable wall of the existing structure.
A very clean “bright white” full height interior liner package was installed to finish this fabrication shops interior allowing for maximum light reflection for the fabrication crews.

This building and interior fit-out were completed in by CMB Erectors on time, and on budget.
